LTG Cargo expands its rail freight geography: brings in cargo from Austria
LTG Cargo, the LTG Group's rail freight company, has organized the first rail shipment from Austria to Lithuania: a special cargo of more than 600 tonnes of new rails has been transported to Šeštokai on the European gauge.
"LTG Cargo is demonstrating its ability to provide the most tailored services that meets the needs of its customers and is further expanding its route geography in the West. The demand for rails in Lithuania will grow both due to repairs and the strategic Rail Baltica project, so our goal is to offer competitive, reliable and sustainable transport solutions from European countries via Poland and within the country," says Eglė Šimė, CEO at LTG Cargo.
The transport from Leoben Donawitz via Austria and the Czech Republic was handled by partners Rail Cargo Group, while the longest part of the journey - via Poland - was carried out by LTG Cargo's Polish subsidiary LTG Cargo Polska.
The train consisted of 25 wagons and carried 642 tonnes of rails, which will be used by LTG Infra, the LTG Group's rail infrastructure network operator, for maintenance and repair work. The transported rails would be sufficient to build a railway section of almost 10 kilometres.
LTG Cargo will transport the rails from Šeštokai to LTG Infra's long-rail production unit in Šilėnai, Šiauliai Region.
