LTG Cargo successfully completes trial runs in Estonia

LTG Cargo, the freight transport company of the Lithuanian Railways (LTG) Group, which is actively seeking to expand its business into Northern and Western Europe, is preparing to broaden its geography of international transports. The company is currently carrying out important preparatory work to secure carrier safety certificates in Latvia and Estonia. "LTG Cargo has carried out its first test runs in Estonia.

"As we expand in the Western markets, we see the potential for a link with the Nordic countries, and we want to make it even easier for our customers to move their freight from road to rail. New logistics solutions for transporting freight in new markets are expected to contribute to a more sustainable and efficient rail link between the Baltic States and between Northern and Western Europe", – says Eglė Šimė, CEO of LTG Cargo.

During these test runs, LTG Cargo locomotives on the route Tartu-Valga (a city in southern Estonia, on the Latvian border)-Tartu have been evaluated to assess LTG Cargo's technical capability and competence to transport trainsets at the maximum speeds allowed on the route. Such test runs are necessary for the certification of the company's locomotives on Estonian territory and for the future launch of the carrier's operations in Estonia.
