LTG Group Freight Carrier Completes Its First Independent Journey in Germany
LTG Cargo Polska, the Polish subsidiary of LTG Cargo, the freight transport company of the LTG Group, has successfully completed its first independent freight train journey in Germany. The company's locomotive hauled a 39-wagon train from Baborów, Poland, to Lünen, Germany, covering a distance of nearly 900 kilometres.
The transport marks a new milestone in the LTG Group's expansion into Western Europe and further strengthens the company's position in the international rail logistics market.
"LTG Cargo Polska is no longer just a rail freight operator in Poland. We are systematically building an efficient logistics corridor connecting Germany, Ukraine and the Baltic states. The General Safety Certificate we received in June, which authorises us to operate independently in Germany, has opened up new opportunities for our customers and enables us to expand westwards even more actively. This development strengthens not only the intermodal corridor between Kaunas and Duisburg, but also creates opportunities for growth on other routes," says Eglė Šimė, CEO of LTG Cargo.
During the first independent journey, the company transported nearly 3,000 tonnes of cargo. The ability to operate in Germany using its own resources will allow LTG Cargo Polska to offer more flexible logistics solutions and manage freight flows between Central and Western Europe even more efficiently.
According to Ms Šimė, operating on the European standard-gauge rail network also helps the company prepare for the strategically important Rail Baltica project.
"Working in the Western European rail freight market enables us to build valuable expertise and capabilities that will support our future business development," she adds.
As Laimonas Nekrošius, Head of LTG Cargo Polska, points out, the company's key strengths lie in efficient freight transportation and operational flexibility. Today, LTG Cargo Polska is one of the leading rail freight carriers in the Lithuania-Poland corridor and on the Ukraine-Poland border.
"Operating in these markets allows us to offer customers not only shorter transit times, but also smoother cooperation, greater flexibility and even higher service reliability," says Mr Nekrošius.
LTG Cargo Polska currently operates 21 locomotives, manages a fleet of up to 300 wagons and employs 150 people. Having obtained the necessary licence to provide rail freight services in Germany, the company is entering a new stage of growth in one of Europe's largest rail freight markets.
