LTG Cargo, which has consistently increased its military transport volumes, has been added to NATO’s list of suppliers

LTG Cargo  has been added to NATO’s list of approved suppliers after being granted a NATO Commercial and Government Entity (NCAGE) code, which enables it to participate directly in the Alliance’s procurement processes as a qualified transport provider.

“LTG Cargo has been a trusted logistics partner to NATO allies for nearly a decade, but until now we have carried out shipments through cooperation with other European carriers,” says Eglė Šimė, CEO of LTG Cargo. “From now on, we have the opportunity to work directly to support military mobility.

“Over the past four years, we have increased the volume of military trains we transport by as much as 70 percent. We possess specific expertise and experience and are ready to strengthen our participation in allied rotations to help ensure the security of the entire region.”

With the NCAGE code, LTG Cargo is now listed in the NATO Logistics Reference Catalog, allowing the company to submit bids and participate in procurement processes for rail‑based transportation services.

According to E. Šimė, LTG Cargo transports military equipment and personnel by rail from Western and Central Europe not only to Lithuania, but also to Latvia and Estonia, and back to their permanent bases.

Last July, during tactical exercises, the company transported Lithuanian military equipment and personnel for the first time, and later participated in the transport of military cargo for four additional units.

In 2025, LTG Cargo organised and operated 180 trains carrying military equipment on both broad‑gauge (1,520 mm) and standard‑gauge (1,435 mm) railways. By comparison, the company transported 145 and 143 military trains in 2024 and 2023, respectively, and 105 trains in 2022.

Across Europe, the majority of military equipment—especially heavy equipment—is transported by rail, whose main advantage lies in the ability to move large quantities of materiel reliably and efficiently. Smooth military mobility is a crucial factor in the resilience of the EU and NATO’s eastern flank.

The development of military‑mobility infrastructure is one of the LTG Group’s priority areas of activity.

LTG Infra, the LTG Group company responsible for railway infrastructure, announced in February that it is launching a military mobility infrastructure development project in Palemonas, aimed at creating dual‑use infrastructure—military and civilian. This will improve loading capabilities for military equipment, enhance mobility within the railway network, and strengthen Lithuania’s capacity to receive and handle NATO military cargo efficiently.

LTG Cargo, a subsidiary of the LTG Group, continues its active integration and expansion into Western markets. The company provides freight transport, intermodal transport, logistics and forwarding, cargo loading, locomotive and railcar repair, and railcar leasing services in Lithuania and abroad. LTG Cargo also owns and operates LTG Cargo Polska in Poland and LTG Cargo Ukraine in Ukraine.
